Today we are diving into your witchhood and expanding our knowledge around the dark moon. This will not be a heavily educational piece of writing but will help to bring clarity to my dark moon readings, why I offer them, and how they are valuable even after the moon phased has passed. I do offer a book recommendation later on if you’re looking for a more expansive explanation.
Up until this point, I’ve posted two dark moon tarot readings and only touched on this concept of the dark moon phase herself and the dark moon current in our lives- which I see to be two sides of the same coin. Let me explain further.

The dark moon phase is often referred to as the new moon by some people and most calendars, but I like to think of the dark moon phase as coming right before the new moon when there’s absolutely no moon to be seen in the sky.
It’s the black abyss of the night.
In a witchcraft sense, during this lunar phase death work, shadow/introspective work, and baneful workings seem to be the most appropriate. If it seems shadowy in any sense of the word either magickly, energetically, or how something personally relates to you; it’s safe to assume the appropriate time for these workings to take place would be under the literal phase of the dark moon.
But what happens when you choose to experience and/or work with death, shadows, or walk a magickly shadowed path full-time?

You are then engaging with life through the dark moon current. The term Dark Moon Current was coined by Kate Freuler in her first book Of Blood and Bones which I highly recommend if you feel this topic resonates with you. This is one of the best books I have found on the subject and the only book that seems to mimic the reality of what my craft actually looks like. In this aspect, the dark moon current is more aligned with shadow work and shadow magick. This would be known as the lesser socially accepted side of the craft. When applying the dark moon current to our lives it’s the time between something dying off or ending but before something new has begun- the liminal.

I started offering my dark moon readings as not only a way to share gained insight during this often-misunderstood literal liminal lunar phase but to also help you connect with the dark moon current in your life. You see, when things lend themselves to the darker side of life and the natural world, my witchhood peaks. The liminal, no matter how or where you see it is the easiest place and time to communicate with the spirits.
Because of this, I want to offer my readings to you. Yes, I read for clients all month long, but I want to share collective readings specifically aimed at my paid subscribers during this time as an offering to the dark moon herself and the death energy that is at the root of my craft.
